Meeting Between Iran’s Deputy Minister and the President of Iran’s Organization of Student Affairs and the Russian Deputy Minister of Science on the Sidelines of the SCO Science Ministers' Meeting in Minsk, Belarus

During this session, Dr. Habiba highlighted the capacity of Iran's higher education system for internationalization and announced the Islamic Republic of Iran's readiness to host an increasing number of Russian international students. Offering reciprocal scholarships, conducting joint educational programs, and facilitating faculty and student exchange were among the primary initiatives proposed by the Iran’s Deputy Minister of Science, Research, and Technology during the discussions.
Russia’s Deputy Minister Konstantin Mogilevsky extended his congratulations to the proud people of Iran regarding the victories achieved in recent imposed wars. Expressing solidarity with the noble people of Iran, he affirmed the support of the Russian government and state for the people and the system of the Islamic Republic of Iran. He also underscored the commitment of Russia and its Ministry of Science to supporting Iranian students throughout the duration of the war. Furthermore, he requested a re-evaluation of Russian universities, advocating for an increase in the number of these institutions included in Iran’s list of recognized and approved universities.
Regarding the reinstatement of Russian universities to Iran's approved list of universities, Dr. Habiba’s proposal to utilize the Islamic World Science Citation Center (ISC) system was well-received and welcomed by the Russian side.
Furthermore, following the most recent meeting between the Deputy for Technology and his counterparts at the Russian Ministry of Science, and the subsequent briefing regarding the damages inflicted upon Iran's higher education system during the war, the Russian Deputy Minister announced the Russian Ministry of Science's readiness to cooperate in this area. Both parties agreed to establish a joint committee tasked with reviewing and addressing these matters.
Finally, following discussions between Iran’s Scientific Attaché and the Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States Affairs, Compatriots Living Abroad, and International Humanitarian Cooperation (Rossotrudnichestvo) regarding the necessity of the Ministry of Science's involvement in the scholarship allocation process, the Russian Deputy Minister welcomed the proposal and formally placed it on his agenda for follow-up.
