According to the Public Relations Office of Iran’s Organization of Student Affairs, the meeting was attended by Dr. Saeid Habiba, Iran’s Deputy Minister of Science, Research, and Technology and the President of the Organization of Student Affairs; Dr. Shokriyeh, the President of Iran University of Science and Technology; Dr. Abbas Ghanbari Baghestan, the Deputy for Scholarships and International Student Affairs; and Dr. Jafari, the Director General for International Students at the Organization of Student Affairs. At the session, members of the national task force representing universities across the country assessed Iran’s academic performance regarding international students during the wartime period.
The meeting also examined post-war developments, the opportunities and challenges arising regarding international student recruitment, new policymaking approaches, and the importance of marketing and identifying new target countries for attracting international students.
At the conclusion of the third in-person meeting of the members of the National Task Force for International Student Recruitment, the members issued a statement emphasizing the implementation of transformational programs tailored to the requirements of the post-war period. The statement highlighted the need for coordination and cooperation across all pillars of Iran’s higher education system with these transformational programs, the use of new capacities such as offering courses in fully electronic, online, and mixed formats, the smartening of infrastructure related to international student recruitment, and the streamlining of recruitment and admissions processes for international students as among the most important points of the final statement.
Universities from the provinces and regions of Tabriz, Kurdistan, Shahid Chamran University of Ahvaz, Shiraz, Bahonar University of Kerman, Isfahan, Mazandaran, Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, and Imam Khomeini International University, as well as universities in Tehran Province including the University of Tehran, Shahid Beheshti University, Iran University of Science and Technology, Amirkabir University of Technology, Sharif University of Technology, Tarbiat Modares University, Kharazmi University, K. N. Toosi University of Technology, Allameh Tabataba’i University, and Alzahra University, are among the member universities of the National Task Force for International Student Recruitment.
It is also worth noting that, at the end of the meeting, the members of the National Task Force for International Student Recruitment visited the faculties and scientific centers of Iran University of Science and Technology, which had been subject to a brutal attack by the Zionist regime during the wartime period.
