With the Presence of the Director General of International Student Affairs at the Student Affairs Organization:

“International Students’ Day” Ceremony and Honoring of Outstanding Students Held at the University of Kurdistan

The “International Students’ Day” ceremony, along with an event honoring outstanding international students, was held at the University of Kurdistan with the participation of the Director General of International Student Affairs of the Student Affairs Organization.

According to the Public Relations Office of the Student Affairs Organization, citing the University of Kurdistan, the “International Students’ Day” ceremony was organized with the aim of honoring distinguished international students. The event was attended by Dr. Jafari, the Director General of International Student Affairs at the Student Affairs Organization, as well as domestic and international officials at the University of Kurdistan. During the ceremony, emphasis was placed on the importance of scientific diplomacy and the role of international students in enhancing Iran’s scientific and cultural standing.
Strategic Targeting of Student Recruitment and Special Facilities for Talents
Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Jafari stated that “scientific diplomacy never stops” and described the presence of international students as a key drivers for improving universities’ international rankings, advancing scientific diplomacy, strengthening university economies, and promoting global peace. He announced that, under Iran’s Seventh Development Plan, Iran has set a target of attracting 320,000 international students by 2028, and noted that a comprehensive package of welfare and residency facilities for these students has been approved and is being implemented.
These facilities include the issuance of residence permits valid for the full duration of studies with freedom of travel, provision of bank cards and SIM cards, currency exchange at daily rates, insurance coverage, the possibility of continuing education in a second language at top universities, facilitation of re-entry visas without the need to leave Iran, and access to science and technology Parks. Dr. Jafari further praised the University of Kurdistan as a pioneering and influential institution in the field of internationalization.
University of Kurdistan: A Hub for Cultural Convergence and Mutual Understanding
At the ceremony, Dr. Yasin Saleh Hama, the Deputy Minister for Cultural and International Relations at the Ministry of Higher Education of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, expressed his appreciation for the warm hospitality of the University of Kurdistan. He described the university as one of the leading academic and cultural institutions and commended its remarkable progress. Referring to the university’s multicultural environment, he highlighted its significance as a valuable opportunity for interaction and mutual understanding among students of different nationalities, and encouraged international students to make the most of this unique feature.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, outstanding international students of the University of Kurdistan were formally honored.
